Vulpus vulpus, the European Red Fox, was deliberately introduced to Australia for recreational hunting in 1855, since then foxes have spread across most of Australia. They have played a major role in the decline of a number of species of native animals. They are a resident at our patch and we’ve had to save several joeys (baby kangaroos) from their predation. Although fox’s are a pest, fox cubs are very cute, and one of our favourite films is Wes Anderson’s ‘Fantastic Mr. Fox’.
